We want to send a BIG thank you to all of our homeowners for trusting us with their home exterior projects and for providing us with lots of referrals! Through all of our success, we were able to help a child in need.
The Illinois Make A Wish foundation has a mission to grant wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich their lives with hope, strength and joy. Cornerstone Exteriors was touched by young Ken’s wish. Ken is a sweet and smiley six-year-old boy who lives with his parents in Hoffman Estates, IL. In March 2009, doctors diagnosed Ken with Alpers’ syndrome, a rare and serious genetic disorder characterized by seizures, liver disease, and a loss of cognitive ability. As it progresses, it also leads to muscle tightness and exaggerated reflexes. Ken is confined to a wheelchair due to his condition. Despite all of the challenges he faces, Ken continues to be a happy, loving, and spirited little boy.
When asked to wish BIG, Ken wished for a wheelchair lift for his family’s van! The family van will be outfitted with a trunk hoist style lift, which will greatly expedite the loading and unloading process with Ken’s wheelchair. For a boy who would much rather spend his time cruising around town than being slowly maneuvered into a vehicle, the wheelchair lift truly will be a dream come true!.
